  1. Day 1

    Nairobi To Amboseli Safari Adventure

    This safari departs Nairobi in the afternoon: pick-up from your hotel is at 2:30pm, after which you join the group and drive south towards Amboseli National Park, arriving at the campsite in the early evening. Amboseli is known for its large elephant herds and for Mount Kilimanjaro rising across the border in Tanzania, and the approach across the dry Maasai plains sets that scene. After check-in there is time to settle in, watch the light fade over the park and have dinner before the first night under canvas.

  2. Day 2

    Full Day Amboseli Safari Game Drive

    After breakfast the 4x4 Land Cruiser heads into Amboseli for a full day of game viewing, the centrepiece of this trip. The park's swamps and open plains draw elephant, buffalo, zebra, giraffe, wildebeest and gazelle into a relatively small area, which makes for reliable sightings, and on a clear morning Kilimanjaro stands behind them; cloud often hides the summit later in the day. A picnic lunch is served inside the park, followed by an afternoon drive before returning to the campsite for dinner and the night.

  3. Day 3

    Amboseli Safari To Nairobi

    Rise early, have breakfast and check out before a final morning game drive in Amboseli. Dawn is the best time for a clear view of Kilimanjaro and for finding animals moving between the swamps and the plains. When the drive ends the vehicle leaves the park and returns to Nairobi, or drops you at the Namanga border post if you are continuing into Tanzania. Tell us which ending you need when you book so the transfer is arranged accordingly, and allow for an afternoon arrival in the city.

When to travel

Seasonal considerations.

Game viewing across Kenya is at its most reliable in the dry months, roughly June to October and again in January and February, when the grass is shorter and animals concentrate around permanent water. The long rains fall around April and May and the short rains in November; both bring green country, fewer vehicles and lower rates, at the cost of some unpredictability on the roads. There is no month in which this journey cannot run.
