Go East Africa Safaris plans and operates safaris in Kenya and Tanzania. Our catalogue holds 57 journeys — 29 in Kenya, 17 in Tanzania and 11 that cross the border and cover both — alongside Kilimanjaro and Mount Kenya climbs and a set of Nairobi and Rift Valley day trips.

When you write to us, you reach the people who put the itinerary together and who will answer the phone while you are on the road. There is no call centre between you and the trip, and nothing is resold from a wholesaler you never hear from.

We would rather be accurate than impressive. Where a published price comes from our catalogue we show it as published, and where we cannot yet confirm something — a named camp, an exact daily programme — we say so instead of filling the gap with something plausible.

Every journey on this site can be adjusted. Add a night where you want longer, drop a park that does not interest you, change the direction of a circuit to suit a flight, or combine two itineraries into one. The catalogue exists so you have something concrete to react to, not because those are the only shapes a trip can take.

Some styles we build entirely to order because they depend too much on who is travelling to publish as fixed departures — that is why family safaris, luxury safaris and safari and beach combinations are described rather than listed. Ask, and we will price a real itinerary.

All of our game drives use a 4x4 Land Cruiser with a pop-up roof — never a minibus. That is a practical decision rather than a style one: high clearance and four-wheel drive are what keep a vehicle moving on wet park tracks in the green season, and the roof gives every seat a clear line for viewing and photography.

Your driver-guide is the person who decides whether you spend twenty minutes with a leopard or drive past it. Ours work the same parks year after year, know which valleys hold which prides, and talk to each other across the radio network — which is how a sighting an hour away becomes a sighting you actually reach.

On the combined Kenya and Tanzania journeys you normally change vehicle and guide at the border, handing over between our Kenyan and Tanzanian teams. We will tell you where that happens on the day-by-day itinerary before you book.

Kenya is where most of our catalogue sits: the Maasai Mara, Amboseli, Lake Nakuru, Lake Naivasha, Samburu, the Aberdares and Mount Kenya, with Nairobi as the gateway.

Tanzania covers the northern circuit — Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Lake Manyara and Tarangire, based out of Arusha — plus Kilimanjaro.

Beyond the two countries we plan and place: gorilla and chimpanzee trekking in Uganda, and time on the Indian Ocean in Zanzibar to finish a trip. We arrange these as extensions rather than claiming them as our home ground.

Park and conservation fees are the largest single component of most safari prices, and they are what keeps these reserves funded. It follows that a quote which undercuts everyone else is usually buying fewer days inside a park, not a better deal — and we would rather explain that than win the comparison.

We use local guides, local camps and local suppliers because that is where the knowledge is and where the money should stay. Community visits, where they appear in an itinerary, are paid experiences and we will tell you the cost rather than present them as free hospitality.
